What is fixture design and manufacturing

The positioning and clamping device specially designed for a certain product is used to fix the workpiece in a precise position, ensure that the position of each product is consistent during processing, welding, assembly and testing, and reduce the manual alignment error.

Fixture measurement stability is insufficient, and inspection results have poor repeatability.

The accuracy stability of body-in-white component fixtures depends on coordinated control of design, manufacturing, and assembly. During design, the measurement datum must be clearly defined to avoid interference with positioning pins or clamping points. During manufacturing and assembly, the fit clearance between positioning pins and bushings should be reasonable, the contact surfaces of clamping mechanisms should fit well, and regular calibration should be performed.

After frequent flipping of the fixture positioning mechanism, positioning accuracy decreases.

Wear at the flipping part is the main cause of accuracy loss. A transition sleeve can be added between the positioning bar and the connecting pin. After wear, only the transition sleeve needs to be replaced to restore accuracy, reducing maintenance costs. At the same time, a locking pin can be added to lock the positioning bar in the non-flipping state, preventing slight movement of the positioning surface due to machining vibration.

When clamping thin-walled parts, the workpiece deforms due to clamping force.

Axial clamping is a common cause of deformation in thin-walled cylindrical or ring-shaped parts. The improvement direction is to change axial force to radial force, for example, by using an elastic internal expansion fixture (such as an elastic wedge sleeve structure), in which the sleeve expands radially through a conical fit to uniformly support the inner wall of the workpiece, avoiding axial crushing or oval deformation.
