After long-term use, the flipping positioning mechanism becomes loose, and spatial dimension inspection values become distorted.

Looseness originates from clearance accumulation at the hinge joint. The improvement method is to use a transition sleeve connection between the positioning bar and the connecting pin, with the transition sleeve serving as a wear part to be replaced regularly. A spiral locking pin can be added to lock the positioning bar after flipping into position, eliminating the looseness caused by fit clearance and making the digital dial indicator readings stable and reliable.

The clamping mechanism interferes with the positioning pin, preventing the workpiece from seating accurately.

Interference is mostly caused by a spatial conflict between the clamping point position and the positioning pin. An open-ended clamp design can be used so that the clamp avoids the positioning pin area. At the same time, adjusting shims can be added between the clamp and the quick clamp to finely adjust the contact gap between the clamp and the workpiece, ensuring reliable clamping without interfering with positioning.

There is interference between the inspection gauge surface and the free-form surface of the workpiece, or the inspection gap is too large.

The surfaces of inspection gauges for automotive body panels are usually obtained through "reverse engineering of the physical object." If the inner surface is mistakenly taken as the outer surface during scanning or modeling, the gauge body surface orientation will be wrong. The correct approach is to confirm the attribution of the scanned surface. The gauge body surface should maintain a constant gap of 2–3 mm from the inner surface of the workpiece so that surface deviation can be measured with a feeler gauge or dial indicator.
